Macamic
Founded in 1917, Macamic enjoyed the growth resulting from two successive mergers, the first with the Macamic parish in 2002 and the second a year later with Colombourg.

With a total acreage of about 240 km2, Macamic comprises two urban centres, a vast countryside with expanses of farmland, extensive forests and popular vacation spots, the newest of which is Fortin-les-Berges.

Located on the lake of the same name, the city of Macamic takes its name from the Algonquin word makamik (“lame beaver”) but also “lake of wonders” in the Cree language. There are water sports aplenty on the lake, as well as good fishing in the summer and winter alike.
