The town owes its origins to the Vautrin colonization plan put in place during the Great Depression in the 1930s.
The remote municipality of Val-Saint-Gilles boasts vast forests teeming with game of all kinds, lakes and rivers where the fishing is fine, and recreational trails for idyllic nature walks or to practice a favorite sport.
For a number of years now, the community has worked on developing a leisure and tourism center on the site of the historic fire station. The year-round center is the perfect place to get your fill of fresh air and wilderness while practicing an activity.
The locals are friendly and always pleased to see new faces.
